Responsible Service: Moving from Harmful Charity to Co-Dreaming

Wednesday, July 24th at 1:00-2:00 pm EST

featuring Breauna Dorelus, Connecting the Cause

In this LIVE Webinar for volunteer leaders we will:

  • Understand how traditional volunteering practices have perpetuated harm + take accountability for the ways we’ve been a part
  • Recognize how pity, power dynamics, and paternalism have oppressed communities in our sector + have created barriers for co-creation
  • Discuss how to advance co-dreaming + take accountability for our roles in fostering community care

Volunteer engagers have the honor of being able to connect and facilitate relationships within spaces of care. Oftentimes, these interactions fail to blossom due to barriers related to supremacy, racism, and power hoarding.

In this workshop, we will explore the concept of “harm” in volunteerism, examine how it can manifest in this work, and examine current service practices that hinder true co-dreaming and community engagement. We will also work to shift our thinking to centering the community in all areas of engagement.

All registrants will receive a recording of the presentation AND bonus resources.
