What's the Initiative?

A strong digital experience for volunteers engaging with Volunteer Centers and Nonprofits alike is more important than ever. With volunteer technology at the heart of our mission, Get Connected is committed to giving your volunteers a modern, easy experience when they interact with you and your nonprofit agencies.

One of the most important parts of the digital volunteer experience is interacting with your nonprofit Agency profiles through your Get Connected site. Volunteers want to see accurate, engaging information about potential volunteer opportunities so that they can make informed decisions about how to give their time in the most impactful way. 

The Get Connected Volunteer Center Network supports tens of thousands of nonprofit Agency profiles. To make enhancing all of these profiles easier - and include the best possible information - we're joining with the volunteer technology-focused national nonprofit, Inspiring Service, in an initiative to improve the search and discovery experience for volunteers in your community, and help them connect with your nonprofit Agencies!

Who Is Inspiring Service?

Inspiring Service is a national nonprofit focused on developing technology-based processes that help support strong volunteer communities. Their mission is to empower individual volunteers with the ability to discover and connect with opportunities that align with their values, interests, and passions.

Their research has shown that prospective volunteers are more likely to respond to needs from organizations when their profile is robust, attractive, and informative.

How Does It Work?

To help your Agencies present incredible profiles for prospective volunteers, we have engaged with Inspiring Service to develop the capacity to quickly and accurately review thousands of agency profiles and make impactful enhancement recommendations. Inspiring Service has developed a process to review, propose, and verify enhancements to organization profiles through the use of virtual volunteers and specialized technology.
 
Your Agency Managers will have the chance to approve or deny any of the proposed changes before they go live and it's included in your Get Connected subscription completely free!

Here's what the process looks like:

1. We'll work with Inspiring Service to review agency profiles to find opportunities for enhanced information

2. Engaging both technology and virtual volunteers, we'll prepare and propose profile enhancements for Agency approval

3. Agencies will have the opportunity to approve, amend, or deny the proposed enhancements before anything on their profile changes

Once we have completed the Agency profile review, an email will go out to the Agency/Nonprofit Manager who last logged into your site presenting recommendations for: 

✅ Most engaging logo
✅ Current website and social media links
✅ Updated and accurate text for their “Who We Are” and "What We Do" sections
✅ And more...

The Agency Manager can then approve those selections and the profile on your Get Connected site will be updated with the latest and greatest! 

Note: If the Agency does not open or respond to the email, we will follow-up with you about next steps.

We will also be providing you with a report showing which agencies actively engaged with this process, and those that did not. This will help you determine if you need to reach out and ensure unengaged agencies have access to their site profiles.
