Volunteer Orientation Beyond the Basics:
Co-Dreaming for Rooted, Reflective, and Community-Centered Volunteerism
Wednesday, June 11th at 1:00-2:00 pm EST
featuring Breauna Dorelus, Connecting the Cause
In this LIVE Webinar for volunteer leaders we will:
- Identify common orientation pitfalls that reinforce saviorism or charity mindsets and how to shift them
- Explore ways to honor and center community voice throughout the orientation process
- Implement ways to integrate root cause framing into orientation content to deepen volunteer understanding
Somewhere in the world, a volunteer orientation is happening right now.
Does yours intentionally center truth?
Is it a perpetuator of pity or does it really set volunteers up for partnership?
In this workshop, grounded in Connecting the Cause’s Co-Dreaming principles, we’ll unpack how to center community, not just logistics and organizational processes.
We'll also discuss root cause framing, and incorporating dignity-affirming language that set volunteers up for practicing care and challenging perceptions. Participants will leave with sample presenter language, and reflection prompts they can immediately integrate into their volunteer onboarding experiences.
Let’s build orientations that don’t just share, but shift.
